Meeting with Business delegation

A seven member delegation led by the Ambassador of Vietnam in Bangladesh Pham Viet Chien visited DCCI and participated in an interactive business meeting held on November 17, 2021 at DCCI auditorium.

DCCI President Rizwan Rahman welcoming the Vietnamese delegation said Vietnam is the 18th largest import partner and 44th largest export market of Bangladesh. He told in FY2020-21, bilateral trade between Bangladesh and Vietnam reached US$ 739.89 million, where export and import was US$ 61.29 and 678.6 million respectively. He also said that Bangladesh needs technical expertise from Vietnam to improve its industrial capacity & productivity. He also underscored the importance of direct flight between Dhaka and Hanoi. He also sought Vietnam’s support to Bangladesh to become a member of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP). He also said that sharing experience of Vietnam in FDI promotion and export diversification.

Ambassador of Vietnam to Bangladesh H.E. Pham Viet Chien in his remarks Vietnam wants that Bangladesh should export more to there to reduce the trade gap. He said several Vietnamese companies are still in operation in Bangladesh and they are doing well. He said bilateral trade between Vietnam and Bangladesh will boost manifold, but for that Bangladesh needs to develop in the logistic sector like improved port facility having easy loading and unloading processes. He also requested the business community of Bangladesh to send trade delegations to Vietnam for more interactions. He also underscored the importance of sustainable mutual benefits.

Members of the visiting Vietnamese delegation also took part in the discussion. They said that Vietnam can export a good quantity of construction stones, clinker, food and spices. Moreover they have shown interest to import jute, jute goods and pharmaceutical products from Bangladesh.

During the meeting N K A Mobin, FCS, FCA, Senior Vice President, Monowar Hossain, Vice President along with the Board of Directors of DCCI were also present.
