President of Dhaka Chamber of Commerce & Industry (DCCI) Taskeen Ahmed on behalf of the members of the Board of Directors expressed grief and deepest condolence at the death of Begum Khaleda Zia, former Prime Minister of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, who breathed her last on December 30, 2025 at the Evercare Hospital, Dhaka while undergoing treatment (Inna lillahe wa inna ilaihe rajiun) at the age of 80 years old.
Begum Khaleda Zia was the first female prime minister of Bangladesh and second female Prime Minister among the Muslim nations. She was also the Chairperson of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), one of the largest political parties in Bangladesh till her death.
She played a pioneering role in the struggle to establish democratic governance in Bangladesh and worked relentlessly throughout her life to uphold the socio-economic and democratic rights of the people of the country, which will be remembered with utmost respect forever.
DCCI prays to the almighty Allah to grant the departed soul eternal peace and Jannah.
