President of Dhaka Chamber of Commerce & Industry (DCCI) Taskeen Ahmed on behalf of the Board of Directors and all members of DCCI expressed his profound shock and deep sorrow over the loss of lives of reportedly at least 16 people caused by a raging fire that broke out at a Washing Plant and its adjacent chemical warehouse in Mirpur’s Rupnagar area on Tuesday, October 14, 2025.
DCCI President also prayed for the salvation of the departed souls and conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the members of the bereaved families. DCCI has also urged the government to ensure proper medical treatment to the injured so that they can get quick recovery.
Furthermore, DCCI has called upon all concerned to strictly follow fire safety standards and regulations while building construction to prevent such tragic incidents in future specially industrial structure. Taskeen Ahmed also stressed the need for increased monitoring by the government and relevant authorities to ensure compliance with adequate fire safety rules.
In addition, DCCI believes that both the public and private sectors should take concerted efforts to raise awareness and implement effective measures to ensure adequate fire protection systems in industrial establishments and residential buildings, which will play a crucial role in safeguarding lives and property across the country.
