  DCCI-WIPO joint 5 day workshop on intellectual property and business development inaugurated

  World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) in cooperation with Dhaka Chamber of Commerce & Industry (DCCI) and with the assistance of the European Union organized a 5 day workshop on Intellectual Property and Business Development at Hotel Sheraton, Dhaka which was inaugurated on June 13, 2010. DCCI Director T I M Nurul Kabir was present as the representative from DCCI.

Director of DCCI T I M Nurul Kabir said in his speech that “I believe some trainers will come out as a result of the program today which will help us shape IPR regime in the country”. We need to update our IP laws and build capacities of the concerned offices. He also informed that DCCI is working for establishing an IP Knowledge Centre at its premise.

Director of Small and Medium Sized Enterprises Division of WIPO, Geneva Guriqbal Singh Jaiya gave a brief overview of the program while highlighting the importance of IP to make it a tool to be competitive in today’s global market. He gave importance on developing perception on how any body can add value by creating a new concept, idea and design.

Counselor of Small and Medium Sized Enterprises Division of WIPO Mrs. Tamara Nanayakkara, Hamayun’s IP Consultant of Lahore, Pakistan Saad Nusrullah and CEO of Vision-IPR, Mumbai Prabuddha Ganguli were present at the inauguration session of the workshop.

Total 55 participants from different government and private organization participated at the workshop.
